COLUMBUS – May 25, 2022 –Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio is honored to announce it received funding from American author and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. This one-time $5 million-dollar unrestricted gift is equivalent to the agency’s annual operating budget of $4.8 million. For decades, the organization has collaborated with parents, guardians, and the community to create opportunities for youth to be seen, valued, and connected to experiences that help them realize their potential.
Elizabeth Martinez, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, states, “We are incredibly excited, grateful and humbled by Ms. Scott’s generosity. No organization alone can create the transformative change needed for our young people to grow and thrive. We believe that relationships are a foundational component of the solution. We look forward to continuing to partner with our community and intensifying our support to bring about systemic change.”
For Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, this gift represents a generational opportunity to expand their impact, innovate to best serve the youth of Ohio, and strengthen great communities. They will honor it by taking the time necessary to assess the investment and the opportunity it creates.
